Homeschool Day at the Dino Museum

Wow! This was the first one of these I had been to and boy, was I impressed. We met Ellison and her mom, Mary Michaels, there and stayed for lunch afterwards. Here is Ava petting the museum's new chinchilla, tracking tropical plants and animals, and using Jedi mind control trying to get a butterfly to land on her finger. She has this dream of a butterfly landing on her finger. So far, it is just a dream.

Ava also attended a workshop on bioluminescent animals, and entered her firefly painting into an illustration contest! Thanks to Emily for devoting two art lessons to this project.

It should come as a surprise to no one that Ava now NEEDS a pet chinchilla. After all the petting we got to watch it take a dust bath and that was very cool! I also loved the museum's Uromastyx lizard which seems to me like a great pet because it is vegetarian. No shopping for live crickets. Unfortunately, we'd have a hard time keeping it at its preferred temperature of 125 degrees F. Well, maybe in Nevis.....
