The Cameron Village Library hosts an hour for homeschoolers once a month, and it is worth trying. Today, the theme was natural disasters, and the librarians read books about tsunamis, earthquakes and hurricanes. The hurricane book was one of my all-time favorites, Two Bobbies. The librarian got choked up reading it--and I haven't been able to read it aloud to Ava without doing the same thing! Such a great story.
The kids used oreos to mimic sliding tectonic plates, a slinky to demonstrate primary and secondary waves, and bottles of oil and colored water to view wave action. Then we were off to yoga!
